Cop Seen Saving Choking Infant’s Life in Heart-Stopping Bodycam Footage: ‘Blue…Unconscious, and Not Breathing’

A Colorado cop is receiving praise for quick-thinking actions that saved the life of a choking infant.

Bodycam footage shows Pacheco bolting toward the door and up the stairs to find a worried woman holding the child — and that’s when he jumped into action and immediately started performing CPR.

As Pacheco began lifesaving measures, the woman in the video sat down and appeared visibly worried. But, within moments, the officer’s actions began to make a discernible change.

“The baby started to respond and was trying to dislodge what was blocking his airway,” the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Deputy Pacheco turned the baby onto its stomach and provided several more back thrusts when the baby suddenly coughed up a white substance.”

Then came a sound that brought relief to Pacheco and the worried mom: the baby began to cry and gasp for air. The officer then handed the baby over to paramedics.

The infant was transported to Children’s Hospital Colorado but has since been released and is doing well.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office praised Pacheco’s actions and thanked him for “saving the baby’s life.”
