Jackson Browne Revisits “Doctor My Eyes” for ‘Playing for Change’ 2023 — ft. Original Rhythm Section Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel & More

The 2023 edition of the Playing for Change Song Around the World project is here, and it’s a special one that finds Jackson Browne performing his all-time classic, “Doctor My Eyes,” accompanied by the song’s original rhythm section — bassist Leland Sklar and drummer Russ Kunkel — as well as an assortment of musicians from all over the globe.

Said Jackson Browne in a statement to Rolling Stone:

“Russ Kunkel and Lee Sklar and I sat down and played it the same way we did on the basic track on my first album – fifty years ago! – just piano, bass and congas,” Browne tells Rolling Stone. “It’s exciting to hear all these musicians add their instruments and voices to my song. Brilliant street musicians as well as oft recorded masters like Russ, Leland and Zakir Hussain – I’m honored to be with them all in the same time and place, thanks to Playing For Change.”

The foundation works tirelessly to support 21 music and education programs across 50 locations in 15 countries, per its website, and the Playing for Change musician initiative has been going strong for a few years now.
