Anita Rivas

RIVAS, Anita (Pacheco) – of Davison, MI, age 99, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Dieudonne Ntakarutimana celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM – 12 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6:30 PM Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home.

Anita was born in Pleasanton, TX on May 16, 1923, daughter of the late Antonio and Ynes (Mejia) Pacheco. She married Louis M. Rivas on October 9,1954 and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1988. Anita was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  She was the matriarch of the family and a devout Catholic. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, playing Bingo and going to the casino. Everyone was welcome in Anita’s home, and there would always be a plate of food and homemade tortillas waiting for you. Anita never met a stranger and befriended everyone she met! She was loved by all, had a zest for life, and nothing ever slowed her down.

Anita is survived by her daughter, Olga (Jim) Strahan; daughter-in-law, Dawn Rivas; 4 grandchildren, Louis (Jen) Rivas Jr., Michael (Jami) Strahan, Tony (Robin) Rivas and Jackie (Zach) McNiel; 4 great grandsons, Jaxson Rivas, Lane Strahan, Luke Rivas and Lucas McNiel; 2 great granddaughters, Madison Strahan and Adalyn Rivas; sisters, Trine Tijerina, Julia Rodriguez; brother, Joe Pacheco; and many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Ynes Pacheco; husband, Louis M. Rivas; son, Louis J. Rivas; brothers, Rafael, Wenceslao, Antonio, Celestino and Narciso Pacheco; sisters, Lydia Tenejuque, Elvira Rosales and Maria Cortez.
